Halloween Party - Getting Ready

This is my cousin Boq who came to live with me a few weeks ago. I have some pictures from him working on a trail project that I'll post later but this being Halloween I want to post pictures related to this festive day. You can see what Boq thinks Halloween is all about. Candy.

We have been invited to a Halloween party tonight so we have to get ready. I tried on different costumes. I like to include puns and plays on words with my costumes. The first costume I was thinking of was a Jail Bird. Do I look suitably downtrodden?

I like my pumpkin bag but it makes me seem too happy for the costume.

Boq knew what he wanted to be (a superhero) but we just didn't have the parts so he came up with this. I'm not certain what he's supposed to be but he does have a cape.

I think it took us long enough but we're finally ready to go. I decided to be Mysticowl.

Though perhaps Boq is a touch over eager as it's still way to early to be leaving for that party. Too much candy already.

Miami #10 - Arriving Home At DIA

Here I am finally back from Florida just having arrived at Denver International Airport.

This one isn't art per se, as it actually is the jet, as far as I understand it. Does it become art when it's displayed thusly?

Bill Daniels' "Cablevision Tool". Here is the sign that explained about why this jet is here.

I guess it really is art.

"Black Metallic Donut" and Basket by Michael Wisner. Mind your teeth on that one. Very pretty but not so tasty.

This one is called "Nature Study" by Virginia Folkstad and is made of wax, steel, and marigold seeds. Very straight forward and actually kind of interesting. Like some sort of bizarre flower.

This one is "Grasshopper" by James Dixon. I have to say that I don't understand why it is called that. I don't see a resemblance and don't see anything that would remind me of a grasshopper.

I like these two pieces. Made of wood and very simple and yet elegant. This first one is "Four Pieces Up, Over, & Down" by Will Clift.

This one is "Three Pieces Red" by Will Clift.

And a closeup showing the joint.

After a long trip and having checked out the art I'm taking a bit of a rest on the tram from the terminal.

More art as the "paper" airplanes that are painted rather like mountains.

This finallizes my journey to Florida. Maybe next time I'll make it out to Palm Beach.

And now I'm back home in Colorado. It was to be travelling but I'm glad to be home.

Miami #9 - Leaving Miami Airport

Almost done with chronicling my trip to Miami; and really only downtown Miami at that.

Airports seem to be great places to see art. Here in the Miami airport they had several pieces including this plane. Good thing it's art otherwise this plane would be in for a spot of trouble heading right for that column and all.

They also had a zoo in the airport.

Or so I thought. . . I had to get a closer look.

Turns out to be another art display. I guess one would call it a diorama. That giraffe sure is tall.

Miami #8 - Bayside Mall Revisited

Some more of what I saw while wandering to and from the Bayside mall.

This is an interesting piece called Duenos de las Estrellas.

This tree is near the Hard Rock Cafe Miami. Someone has braided the branches (tendrils?).

This nifty piece was made in memory of the shuttle Challenger explosion.

The sculpture seems to allow you to climb to the stars.

As someone coming from Colorado I found the shape of these trees to be rather exotic and rather fascinating. Not the kind of thing I get to see every day.

Here is the Dade County War Memorial honoring those from Dade county that lost their lives in war. Itr's very pretty but with it being as white as it is I was concerned I might not be visible with it in the background.

This statue of Claude Pepper was interesting to me because I haven't seen many statues that have glasses especially not done the way these were. Mr. Pepper has a statue for all the things he did in his life to make things better for the elderly.

I really like the idea behind the Liberty Column and what it represents.

Incredible detail on the hands of this sculpture.

It's a very symbolic. I really like how this shot came out.
